Senior Cost Accountant - Global Manufacturer - Oakbrook IL
This position will be helping support monthend close processes for their plant along with maintaining all costings needs reporting in the Plant Controller.
Client Details
I'm partnered with the Controller at a multi-billion dollar manufacturing company located near Oakbrook, IL. They are located in over 20 different countries with their HQ being located in the burbs of Chicago.
Description
- Design and oversee standard costing systems for both products and services.
- Conduct regular cost rollovers and updates.
- Generate and deliver analyses of cost variances.
- Collaborate closely with Supply Chain to address cost-related issues.
- Review cost accounting data and support cycle counts and physical inventory processes.
- Support month-end closing by preparing journal entries, analyzing inventory valuation, and managing inventory roll forwards.
- Accurately categorize costs for Purchase Price Variance (PPV) analysis.
- Handle all requests for new or adjusted accounts related to customers and suppliers according to accounting policies.
- Work with operational managers to enhance controls, accuracy, and quality in manufacturing cost accounting and address unusual variances.
- Prepare cost forecasts, budgets, and profitability reports.
- Contribute to the preparation of financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure precise financial reporting.
- Identify potential areas for cost reduction and process improvements.
- Apply best practices in cost accounting and financial analysis.
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations, GAAP standards, and internal company policies.
- Keep accurate records and controls to support cost management efforts.
- Provide actionable insights to senior leadership to aid strategic decision-making.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Manufacturing experience
- 5+ years of Cost Accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of Financial Statements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
