Engineering Project Manager - Plastics - Watertown, CT

The Engineering Manager will lead a small team of Project Engineers in developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers and managing team performance. This role focuses on project management and meeting project goals and objectives.

Description

Reporting directly into the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for the following:

• Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall operational productivity and quality.
• Supervise, mentor, and train Project Managers and Engineers to ensure timely, accurate project execution.
• Foster strong communication and collaboration across all departments and with customers and vendors.
• Ensure manufacturing processes comply with company quality systems and industry standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Molding, and Assembly to implement best practices and improvements.
• Review and support design development for gauges, fixtures, and jigs, and assist in equipment selection and facility upgrades.
• Participate in quality audits, Material Review Board activities, and corrective action processes to uphold high standards.
• Lead and support projects aligned with company goals, including budgeting and performance reporting.
• Train personnel in Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to build organizational capability.
• Manage documentation control throughout project development and resolve operational issues at all organizational levels.

Profile

A successful Engineering Manager should have:

• A Bachelor's Degree in a technical field such as Mechanical Engineering or equivalent professional experience
• At least 5 years of proven leadership skills and the ability to manage a team effectively.
• Strong knowledge of project management and Lean Manufacturing.
• Experience with injection molding highly preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a detail-oriented mindset.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
