We are currently partnered up with an Electronics Manufacturing Company in their search to add a Failure Analysis Engineer to the team due to growth. This position will report into the Quality team and will be responsible for investigating product failures, determining root causes, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. This role involves conducting detailed analyses of defective products, collaborating with design and process engineering teams, and providing recommendations for improving product reliability and quality. Description

The Failure Analysis & Reliability Engineer - Electronics Manufacturing will be responsible for the following:

  • Failure Investigation: Conduct thorough investigations of failed products to determine the root cause of failure using various analytical tools and techniques (e.g., SEM, X-ray, optical microscopy).
  • Root Cause Analysis: Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on failures to identify underlying issues in materials, design, process, or usage that led to the failure.
  • Corrective Actions: Work closely with design, process, and quality teams to develop and implement corrective actions based on failure analysis findings. Ensure that corrective actions are effective in preventing future failures.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed reports documenting failure analysis results, including methods used, findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Maintain records of all failure analysis activities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify trends and recurring issues through analysis of failure data. Propose and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability and reduce failure rates.
  • Customer Support: Provide technical support and failure analysis services to customers, including explaining the root cause of failures and recommended corrective actions.
  • Testing and Validation: Design and execute tests to replicate failure modes and validate corrective actions. Use advanced analytical tools to characterize material properties and failure mechanisms.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various teams including R&D, process engineering, quality assurance, and manufacturing to share insights from failure analyses and contribute to product development and improvement efforts.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all failure analysis activities comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Profile

The Failure Analysis & Reliability Engineer - Electronics Manufacturing will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in failure analysis, quality engineering, or a related role in manufacturing or product development.
  • Hands-on experience with failure analysis tools and techniques (e.g., SEM, EDS, FTIR, X-ray, FIB).
  • Experience in industries such as semiconductor, electronics, automotive, or aerospace is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct detailed investigations.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and root cause analysis methods (e.g., 8D, FMEA, 5 Whys).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience with advanced failure analysis techniques (e.g., TEM, SIMS, AFM).
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
  • Lean Six Sigma certification.

Job Offer

The Failure Analysis & Reliability Engineer - Electronics Manufacturing will be rewarded with the following:
