Sr. Manufacturing Engineer- Danbury, CT
In this role, you'll play a key part in new product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement efforts across Class II and III devices-from CNC‑machined parts to catheter sub‑assemblies and full finished devices. Description
- Lead CNC programming for milling, multi‑axis, and EDM processes while optimizing tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies.
- Troubleshoot machining challenges, equipment issues, and work‑holding setups on the production floor.
- Design scalable manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures that improve quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Drive NPI activities from early concept through production transfer, interfacing directly with customers and internal teams.
- Own build schedules, documentation, and technical readiness for new and existing medical device programs.
- Lead validation activities including IQ/OQ/PQ, TMV, equipment qualifications, and compliant documentation.
- Implement process improvements that reduce cycle time, cost, and scrap while improving yield and throughput.
- Collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Quality, and other functions to solve technical problems and elevate manufacturing performance.
Profile
A successful Senior Manufacturing Engineer should have:
- 5+ years in precision CNC manufacturing
- Experience in a medical device or other regulated environment (preferred)
- Strong CNC milling and multi‑axis machining background-programming, setup, optimization, troubleshooting
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM tools (SolidWorks, Mastercam, Esprit, or similar)
- Experience machining exotic alloys and applying HEM/heavy‑roughing strategies
- Demonstrated success designing and developing manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures
- Experience with NPI and transferring products from prototype to production
- Strong analytical skills (DOE, regression, ANOVA, capability studies)
- Excellent technical writing-procedures, reports, validation protocols
- Comfort working within ISO 9001/13485 or similar environment
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects
- Strong interpersonal and operator‑training skills
- BS or MS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Biomedical, or related engineering field
