Automotive - Manufacturing Engineer - Springfield, MA
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing cost-efficient manufacturing processes that align with product specifications and quality standards. This role also plays a key part in identifying and driving improvements across production methods, workflows, and controls. Additionally, the engineer supports the successful launch of new or updated products and assists in diagnosing equipment issues and identifying root causes of failures across the plant.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Drives continuous improvement efforts by identifying process enhancements, resolving production challenges, and supporting employee development.
- Contributes to the optimization of manufacturing methods with a focus on reducing costs, enhancing quality, and boosting operational efficiency.
- Develops and communicates implementation plans, including team training and rollout coordination.
- Oversees equipment process conditions and supports root cause analysis when issues arise, recommending effective corrective actions.
- Promotes safety by identifying potential risks and supporting mitigation strategies.
- Partners with Manufacturing Engineering to analyze production capacity, time studies, and return-on-investment scenarios tied to future planning.
- Assists in refining production control systems, SOPs, safety protocols, and training materials to support operational excellence.
- Plays a key role in launching new or updated products by setting targets, training team members, and reviewing performance outcomes.
- Evaluates, sources, and justifies tooling and equipment investments aligned with proposed manufacturing strategies.
- Conducts product and process evaluations to uncover opportunities for cost savings, quality enhancement, and throughput improvement.
- Acts as a manufacturing representative on cross-functional project teams.
- Supports mechanical or electronic assembly efforts using technical drawings and detailed layouts.
- Brings hands-on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting to support automation and controls reliability.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 1 to 5 years of relevant experience in an engineering or manufacturing role
- Background in high-volume, fast-paced metalworking environments is a plus
- Proficiency with CAD software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and approachable demeanor
- Solid math and computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Well-organized with strong planning capabilities
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects effectively in a dynamic work setting
