Our client is currently seeking a motivated Estimator to join their team and contribute to their continued success.
Description
As an Estimator, you will play a key role in preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for dry utility projects. Reporting to the Chief Estimator, you will work closely with project managers and field teams to analyze project documents, perform quantity take-offs, source quotes, and assess project budgets. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with 2-5 years of experience who is eager to grow within a company that provides a supportive and dynamic work environment.
The Estimator - Underground Utility Installation will have the following responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for underground utility projects, including electrical, telecommunications, and gas systems.
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs for materials, labor, and equipment required for underground installations.
- Submit timely bids that align with client specifications and project scope.
- Source and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
- Monitor project budgets and collaborate with project management to adjust costs as necessary.
- Track actual project costs and compare them to estimates to enhance future estimating accuracy.
- Identify and assess risks related to site conditions, regulations, and scheduling to develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Stay informed on local market conditions, industry trends, and material price fluctuations.
- Work closely with project teams to confirm that estimates reflect actual site conditions and construction methods.
- Maintain detailed records of estimates, assumptions, and any changes for internal reference and audits.
Profile
The Estimator - Underground Utility Installation will have the following qualifications:
- 2-5 years of estimating experience, ideally in underground utilities or a similar field.
- Proficiency in Excel and Bluebeam software.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, cost estimation, and risk management.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external vendors.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
