Technical Services Team Leader
You will lead small to mid-size multidisciplinary projects, reviewing vendor documentation, and ensuring mechanical equipment meets quality standards and regulatory codes. The position also involves coordinating equipment design across disciplines, preparing material requisitions, and managing project costs. Additionally, the role includes mentoring junior engineers, overseeing department budgets, and handling tasks assigned by senior management.

Our Client specializes in the development and manufacturing of thermoformed and heat-sealed components for the medical, electronic, chemical manufacturing, defense, and aerospace industries. The company utilizes thin, high-performance fluoropolymer films, such as Teflon, to create intricate three-dimensional shapes through precision thermoforming and heat sealing processes.
Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive design services by supporting the establishment of design criteria and the preparation of specifications, design computations, drawings, models, and bills of material in accordance with basic project requirements
- Develop and participate in reviews, in conjunction with other disciplines, of conceptual drawings and layout process flows
- Put together the mechanical bid packages (RFQ)
- Review and mark-up from a mechanical perspective the applicable vendor documentation
- Lead small to mid-size multidiscipline projects
- Review project drawings for quality and completeness
- Assist in the preparation of engineering scope of work packages
- Ensure that all discipline deliverables are checked and verified in regards to mechanical equipment
- Ensure consistency and integrity of all major equipment in accordance with all codes and specifications
- Evaluate and forecast the costs for major equipment
- Coordinate all major equipment design with other disciplines
- Prepare material requisitions and work with vendors to supply mechanical equipment
- Act as a technical resource person for other staff and mentor less experienced engineers
- Department budget management
- Additional projects or tasks requested by Senior Management as needed
Supervisory Requirements:
- Train all Team Members on the Company Mission, Company Core Values, Company Team Member Handbook and Company Quality Policy
- Devise, evaluate and report on annual and long-term Team Goals that support the Company Team Goals
- Write, maintain and train Team Members on the Team, Team Member and Task Mission Statements
- Assign all tasks to Team Members
- Lead Team Members in writing, training and maintaining Team Procedures
- Conduct a Team Meeting with all Team Members no less than once a month.
- Evaluate and report on the Team and Team Member's performance in accordance with the Team Member Handbook
- Stimulate corrections of performance of Team Members to achieve the proper standard(s)
- Monitor, maintain and report on Team Members daily attendance
- Maintain and provide necessary and proper resources required by the Team to achieve the mission of the Team
- Provide Team Members a method and path for problem solving and conflict resolution
- To provide Team Members with a method and path for training and continual education
- Be an active participate at Team Leader meetings, providing input and feedback to both the Company Team Leader and fellow Team Leaders
- Present updates on Team Activities at Quarterly Company Meetings
Profile
- Bachelors or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 to 10 Years leadership/management experience with teams
- Experience in CAD software and ISO Quality Management Systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with extensive knowledge of codes, standards and normal industry specifications
- Diligent, reliable, thorough, tenacious and detail oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Superior client service skills
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, probe, analyze and solve complex issues
- Ability to work in a constantly changing environment and achieve quality standards
- Strong organizational skills, including effective prioritization and follow-up
