Controller

Our client are a fast growing restaurant, hospitality and catering company, with over 20 sites in New York that are looking for a Controller to help manage the end to end finances for the growing business. They are looking for a candidate with prior experience working in the restaurant industry to join the growing team in Woodside, Queens.

Client Details

The client are a brilliant chain of restaurants that are rapidly growing across New York. They have plans to expand in the near future and are looking for a candidate that can help manage the day to day operations of the finance team. This will be the first hire into the senior leadership level of the finance team and will report directly into the Founders/Owners of the business. The successful Controller will have the opportunity to expand the team and take full control of the company accounts!

Description

The successful Controller will:

• Overseeing the team of 3 direct reports (Bookkeepers)
• Running the day to day operations of the Accounting team across 20+ location in New York
• Bring in a number of new accounting and finance processes to help improve the internal controls of the team
• Management of the monthly-close process
• GL analysis and oversight of both the Accounts Payable and Receivable functions
• Monthly P&L and variance analysis
• Cashflow statements and reports
• Main POC for all finance queries (both internal and external)
• Assist with the quarterly preparation of the financial statements
• Liaising with the external auditors and accountants
• Successful candidate will also have the opportunity to start building out an FP&A function for the company

Profile

The successful Controller will:

• MUST have previous working experience working in a similar industry (multi-site // restaurants, bars, retail etc.)
• Have strong consolidations experience
• Approximately 3-5 years of experience in a similar level role within a relevant industry (Accounting Manager, Senior Accounting Manager, Controller etc.)
• Experience working within a smaller sized team (desirable, not essential)
• Prior experience using Quickbooks Online (desirable, not essential), also have strong Excel skills
• Mandarin or Cantonese speaker (desirable)

Job Offer

• $140,000 - $180,000 (client can be flexible for a strong candidate)
