Its reputation is built on strong relationships with developers, architects, and subcontractors, ensuring streamlined communication and timely delivery across a variety of complex builds. They have recently secured a large project in Charlottesville and are looking for a strong Assistant Superintendent to join their team.
Description
The Assistant Superintendent - Charlottesville, VA - Large Projects will be responsible for:
- Assisting with daily on-site operations for commercial construction projects, supporting safe, timely, and budget-conscious execution.
- Helping coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to keep project milestones and deadlines on track.
- Supporting compliance with project plans, specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Participating in daily job site inspections and safety meetings; helping maintain a clean, organized, and secure site.
- Collaborating with project managers, architects, engineers, and the superintendent to address field issues and maintain project alignment.
- Assisting with scheduling and monitoring phases of construction, from site prep through punch list and project closeout.
- Maintaining field documentation such as daily logs, progress photos, and subcontractor reports under superintendent direction.
- Supporting quality control efforts and assisting with regular inspections of work in progress.
- Helping manage material deliveries, equipment, and on-site logistics to minimize delays and maximize efficiency.
- Assisting with coordination and communication between trades to avoid conflicts and ensure smooth workflow.
- Supporting the superintendent as a point of contact for clients and project stakeholders when needed.
- Helping track project costs and assisting with identifying potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Providing support and guidance to crew members while learning leadership responsibilities under the superintendent's mentorship.
Profile
The Assistant Superintendent - Charlottesville, VA - Large Projects will have:
- 5+ years of experience as a Field Engineer/Assistant Superintendent in commercial construction.
- Proven track record working on large-scale, ground-up projects valued at $50M+
- Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and site logistics.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical documents.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, MS Project).
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
