Superintendent - Federal/Public - Rhode Island
We're representing a well‑established, Rhode Island-based General Contractor seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on upcoming K‑12 and municipal renovation projects. This role is ideal for someone who understands the Rhode Island construction market, has strong relationships with local subs, and is ready to take ownership of a major summer workload and a newly awarded multimillion‑dollar project.

Our client is a long-standing, family‑led construction management and general contracting firm with nearly a century of history building in Rhode Island. Well known for their collaborative culture, low turnover, and ability to deliver both ground‑up and renovation projects across public, federal, and commercial markets, they manage work ranging from $1M-$50M and offer a compensation and benefits package that exceeds typical RI standards. With major K‑12 and community projects queued up including a recently awarded $50M school redevelopment they are expanding their field leadership team.
Description
- Lead on‑site construction activities from mobilization through closeout on public, education, and commercial projects.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and internal project teams.
- Maintain project schedules, daily reports, site logistics planning, and safety compliance.
- Oversee quality control, sequencing, and phasing especially on active school renovation sites.
- Problem‑solve in the field to ensure timely progress and alignment with project plans/specs.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Rhode Island subcontractors and stakeholders.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with permitting, regulations, and safety standards.

Profile
- 5+ years of superintendent experience ideally as a lead on ground‑up and renovation projects.
- Experience with academic, municipal, or public-sector construction (RI experience strongly preferred).
- Deep familiarity with Rhode Island subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and engineers.
- Strong understanding of construction phasing, scheduling, safety coordination, and site operations.
- Proven ability to manage complex job sites independently with professionalism and urgency.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
