Senior Estimator

Michael Page Philadelphia, PA (Onsite) Full-Time
$120,000 - $170,000/Year
The Senior Estimator will play a critical role in preconstruction and project planning by providing accurate cost estimates, budgets, and value engineering solutions. This position requires a deep understanding of construction methods, materials, and market pricing, as well as strong analytical and communication skills.

My client is a real estate development firm with a fully integrated construction division, specializing in residential, mixed-use, and commercial projects throughout the Greater Philadelphia area. Their team is committed to delivering high-quality developments that shape communities and exceed client expectations.

Description

    • Prepare detailed cost estimates for ground-up development and renovation projects.
    • Develop conceptual and schematic budgets during early design phases.
    • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
    • Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier bids.
    • Evaluate proposals for scope, pricing, and compliance with project requirements.
    • Negotiate pricing and terms to achieve cost efficiencies.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or schedule.
    • Provide alternative materials and construction methods to optimize budgets.
    • Maintain current knowledge of local labor rates, material costs, and market trends.
    • Build and update historical cost databases for future projects.
    • Work closely with development managers, project managers, and design teams.
    • Present estimates and cost analyses to senior leadership for approval.
    • Assist in preparing financial models and feasibility studies.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in estimating for commercial, residential, or mixed-use projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with real estate developers or design-build firms.
  • Familiarity with Philadelphia permitting and zoning processes.
  • Understanding of sustainable building practices and LEED certification requirements
