Head of Engineering and Continuous Improvement

My client is actively seeking a new US Head of Technical Engineering Continuous to oversee their sites in Connecticut and Alabama. The position will be reporting directly to the President and will be in charge of of updating and creating programs for continuous improvement of both sites.

My client is a global engineering group specialising in the manufacture of high-performance precision components and assemblies. With a history dating back over 200 years, the company serves a variety of industries, including aerospace, defence, automotive, energy, and industrial gas turbines. They are known for their expertise in complex metalworking processes, including casting, forging, and machining, with a focus on high-temperature and high-stress environments.

Description

The key responsibilities of the US Head of Technical Quality and Continuous Improvement will be:

Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across all US sites, focusing on productivity, efficiency, and waste reduction.
  • Develop and deploy Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence strategies to enhance performance.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by engaging employees at all levels in problem-solving activities.
  • Measure, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality and operational excellence.



Technical Guidance and Expertise

  • Provide technical expertise in investment casting processes, metallurgy, and quality control.
  • Lead the technical quality team in the development of process improvements and the introduction of new technologies.
  • Guide the implementation of new quality testing methods and technological advancements to enhance product integrity.
  • Multi-site Management of Manufacturing Processes (This role will include approximately 75% travel)



Data-Driven Decision Making:

  • Utilize data analysis and statistical process control to monitor trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of quality metrics to senior management and other stakeholders.

Profile

The successful Head of Engineering and Continuous Improvement will have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in within investment casting, aerospace, automotive, or a similar industry.
  • Deep understanding of investment casting processes, metallurgical properties, and quality control techniques.
  • Proven experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement programs.(Black Belt Certification Required)
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and process improvement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
