Client Details

My client is a growing general contractor specializing in high-quality commercial interior and retail construction projects across New York City, searching for a Manhattan based Commercial Project Manager to join the team. The team is dedicated to delivering exceptional results through collaboration, expertise, and a hands-on approach. They foster a dynamic and supportive work environment where every team member plays a key role in the success of our projects.

Description

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of commercial interior and retail construction projects. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing project timelines, budgets, and quality, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing fast-paced, high-end projects with a focus on attention to detail, cost control, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Lead and manage the overall project execution from pre-construction through completion. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Budget and Schedule Management: Develop and manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost control. Create and manage project schedules, ensuring timely completion.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the project team, including superintendents, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and addressing concerns promptly. Maintain positive client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Subcontractor and Vendor Management: Oversee procurement of materials and subcontractors. Ensure subcontractors meet project specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Address any project-related issues or challenges that arise during construction.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, change orders, RFI's, submittals, and progress reports. Provide regular updates to senior management and clients.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all work meets the company's quality standards and complies with local regulations, codes, and safety standards.
  • Problem-Solving: Address any unforeseen issues quickly and efficiently while maintaining project progress.

Profile

  • 5+ years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on commercial interiors or retail projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Proficient in project management software (Procore, Buildertrend, Microsoft Project, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of NYC building codes, safety regulations, and permitting processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • PMP or LEED accreditation is a plus, but not required.
