Continuous Improvement Champion | Actuators

The company is seeking a Continuous Improvement (CI) Champion to lead organization‑wide CI initiatives aimed at enhancing Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Growth, and Employee Engagement (SQDCGE). This role plays a key part in shaping a culture of continuous improvement by integrating CI practices into daily operations and empowering employees at all levels.

Client Details

Founded in 1936, this employee‑owned organization designs and manufactures high‑performance electric actuators used in industrial process control. Its products are engineered for precision, reliability, and long‑term stability-without the maintenance challenges common to traditional actuation technologies. These actuators support final‑control elements such as valves, dampers, and fluid couplings across a diverse range of industries, including power generation, water and wastewater treatment, steel production, pulp and paper, cement and minerals, chemical processing, and petrochemical applications.

  • Primary Responsibilities

    • Develop a strategic CI roadmap aligned with organizational goals, including identifying and prioritizing improvement opportunities.
    • Lead cross‑functional teams in executing CI projects using appropriate methodologies such as Value Stream Mapping, A3 problem solving, Standard Work, Pull Systems, SMED, Transactional process improvement, Value Analysis/Value Engineering, and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.
    • Support leadership in incorporating CI principles into management systems and decision‑making processes.
    • Establish and maintain KPIs and visual management tools to track progress and communicate results.
    • Train, mentor, and coach employees in CI tools, lean concepts, and structured problem‑solving techniques.
    • Partner with teams across all functions to eliminate waste, streamline workflows, and improve operational efficiency.
    • Analyze data to identify performance trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
    • Contribute to strategic initiatives focused on cost reduction, quality improvement, and increased throughput.
    • Document best practices and ensure standardization across the organization.
    • Benchmark industry best practices and continuously refine the CI strategy.
    • Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring that continuous improvement initiatives support safe practices and operational well‑being.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Experience within an organization that utilizes CI tools effectively.
  • Advanced knowledge of assembly or machining processes is preferred.
