Packaging Engineering Manager

The Packaging Engineering Manager will execute packaging development initiatives from concept to commercialization while working closely with cross-functional partners. Work will include new packaging growth programs, productivity initiatives and quality improvements.

The company is a small to mid sized growing personal care product manufacturer.

Description

* Work with vendors and marketing team members to develop packs, developing best practice packaging processes, finalizing specifications, managing overall quality and package functionality

* Manage technical packaging development milestones on custom primary packaging components

* Discover new products/technology to 'raise the bar' in packaging for innovation and sustainability goals

* Manage technical timelines for projects providing timely communication, outlining issues, risks and contingency plans

* Develop written testing protocols and complete thorough plant trials for various products lines

* Collaborate with Quality team to problem solve and troubleshoot when deviations occur in production

* Develop and maintain a professional knowledge of new or emerging trends within the packaging discipline

* Accountable for the creation and maintenance of packaging component specifications and finished good assembly instructions

* Identify new suppliers to improve quality/price/flexibility and expand current package capability

* Work in conjunction with Creative and Marketing to design and develop eye catching packaging that will contribute to sales growth

Profile

* Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent relevant experience

* 6+ years' experience, ideally in Beauty and/or CPG environment

* Experience with custom primary packaging

* Ability and willingness to learn new technical areas leveraging internal and external resources

* Strong organizational and communication skills
