Payroll & Benefits Specialist - $70k-$80k
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing for a multi-state workforce while ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations. It also oversees employee benefits programs, including enrollment, vendor coordination, and compliance, and maintains the HR information system to ensure data integrity and reporting.
Multi-state payroll experience is required.
This position is hybrid in San Antonio.

The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is a high-impact position that owns one of the most critical functions in any organization: making sure employees are paid accurately and supported through meaningful benefits. This role owns the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring every step - from data collection to final payment - is executed correctly.
On the benefits side, this person will oversee everything from health and retirement plans to wellness and voluntary offerings. It involves managing enrollments, partnering with vendors, ensuring accurate payroll deductions, and maintaining compliance with regulations, while also acting as a go-to resource for employees navigating their options. It's a high-touch, detail-driven function that directly shapes the overall employee experience.
Successful candidates must have multi-state payroll and benefits experience.
Description
- Process and manage employee payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health, retirement, and other perks.
- Maintain and update employee records within payroll and HR systems.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll and benefits functions.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and compliance reports.
- Address employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits in a timely and professional manner.
- Monitor and implement changes in federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Support the Human Resources department with additional administrative tasks as needed.
