R&D Engineer - Electrical - Dover, NH
My client is looking for a highly skilled R&D Electrical Engineer to design, develop and implement automated systems to increase efficiency and effectiveness for their clients in the medical industry. The ideal candidate should be innovative, detail-oriented, and experienced in engineering & manufacturing processes.

My client is an industry leader who specializes in manufacturing high-performance fluoropolymer films and custom-engineered components used in demanding applications like medical devices, aerospace, and electronics. They focus on precision thermoforming and heat sealing of fluoropolymers such as PTFE, FEP, and PFA.
Description
As the R&D Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Act as a key technical contributor on cross-functional teams developing custom automation solutions.
- Lead design, programming, simulation, and integration of electrical and mechanical automation systems.
- Optimize manufacturing workflows with a focus on safety, efficiency, and quality.
- Manage equipment procurement projects, including vendor coordination and engineering specifications.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, validation protocols, risk assessments, and safety instructions.
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory standards for design and safety.
- Create project timelines, scope of work, cost estimates, and track progress.
- Lead experiments, system validations, and data analysis to support R&D objectives.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.
- Troubleshoot complex automation issues to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the R&D Team Leader.
Profile
The successful R&D Electrical Engineer should have:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology; Electrical or Software Engineering preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in product or process development within a relevant engineering field.
- Expertise in automation control systems (e.g., PLCs, HMIs, motion control, robotics, vision systems).
- Familiarity with tools like SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical/PDM, GXWorks, and C-More preferred.
- Strong background in statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE).
- Skilled in FMEA, hazard analysis, and conducting thorough design reviews.
- Experience with electrical panel layout and assembly.
- Knowledge of documentation systems, change control, quality standards, and ISO compliance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and adaptable to new software tools.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (<5%).
