Superintendent - Commercial Construction - Portland, ME

We're partnering with a well‑established Maine‑based Construction & Development firm to hire an experienced Superintendent. This role offers the opportunity to lead high‑impact commercial and mixed‑use projects while working with a highly respected, third‑generation company.

Client Details

Our client is a 50+ year old, multi‑disciplinary construction firm operating across Southern Maine. With a team of 40+ construction professionals and deep regional roots, they deliver ground‑up commercial, mixed‑use, multifamily, and large‑scale development projects. The company is growing due to upcoming major projects and a recent internal departure, and they are eager to bring on an experienced Superintendent who can immediately step into a key role.

Description

• Oversee daily on‑site construction operations for ground‑up commercial, mixed‑use, and multifamily projects
• Manage subcontractor coordination, scheduling, site logistics, and quality control
• Ensure all work aligns with project plans, specifications, timelines, and safety standards
• Lead on‑site problem solving and maintain strong communication with project managers and leadership
• Conduct regular site inspections, documentation, and reporting
• Maintain a safe, productive, and collaborative jobsite environment
• Support planning for upcoming phases of work and long‑term project sequencing
• Represent the company professionally with clients, partners, and community stakeholders

Profile

A successful Superintendent - Commercial Construction should have:

• 3-10 years of Superintendent experience
• Strong background in ground‑up commercial construction; mixed‑use or multifamily experience highly preferred
• Ability to effectively manage subcontractors, schedules, and jobsite operations
• Proven success leading projects through all phases of construction
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
