Chemical Manufacturing - Senior Process Engineer - Westport, CT
My client is seeking a Senior Process/Project Engineer to join the Engineering Department. This role involves designing, improving, and troubleshooting chemical manufacturing systems, ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

Description
Core Responsibilities:
- Design and select process equipment and auxiliaries for new or revised chemical manufacturing systems
- Implement process improvements and capacity changes through ECN processes
- Prepare P&IDs, energy/material balances, and utility requirements
- Develop equipment layouts, instrumentation scopes, and piping designs
- Troubleshoot existing operations and recommend improvements for safety, efficiency, and compliance
- Lead or assist with Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)
- Manage project costs, schedules, and installation/startup activities
- Scale up R&D processes to full production systems
- Participate in Safety and Health Committee and Hazardous Materials response team
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering
- 10-20 years of experience in design, project, and process engineering within chemical plant operations and batch processing
- Strong knowledge of heat transfer, fluid flow, mass transfer, distillation, reaction engineering, and liquid/liquid extraction
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills
- Proficiency in technical applications and computer tools
