Healthcare Construction Project Manager - Manhattan, NY
This Healthcare Construction Project Manager role oversees the delivery of complex medical‑facility projects in active hospital environments, ensuring patient safety and operational continuity. The position manages planning, phasing, and execution with strict adherence to healthcare regulations, infection‑control standards, and clinical stakeholder needs.

The client is a major healthcare system focused on expanding and modernizing clinical spaces-including surgical suites, emergency departments, imaging areas, and inpatient units-to enhance patient outcomes and support advanced medical technologies.
Description
- Lead construction of clinical environments such as ORs, ICUs, labs, and specialty care units
- Oversee compliance with healthcare standards including ICRA, NFPA, FGI, and life‑safety codes
- Plan detailed phasing to minimize impact on patient care and hospital operations
- Coordinate with infection prevention teams to maintain strict containment protocols
- Manage utility shutdowns, medical gas installations, and integration of clinical equipment
- Work closely with clinicians, facility directors, and biomedical engineering departments
- Conduct risk assessments tailored to patient‑occupied settings
- Ensure all work supports accreditation requirements (e.g., Joint Commission readiness)
- Deliver clear reporting on costs, milestones, and impacts to hospital departments

Profile
A successful Project Manager should have:
- Demonstrated success managing construction in active healthcare or acute‑care settings
- Deep understanding of hospital operations, sterile environments, and clinical workflows
- Skilled in navigating multi‑disciplinary groups including doctors, nurses, and infection control
- Able to anticipate patient‑safety risks and implement effective containment strategies
- Experience with complex MEP systems, medical gas, imaging equipment, and life‑safety systems
- Excellent communicator who thrives in high‑stakes, precision‑driven environments
- Strong ability to plan projects around 24/7 hospital activity and emergency response needs
