Operations Manager

The Operations Manager will oversee all day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets are consistently met. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong experience in precision machining, fabrication, assembly, or related production processes-especially in regulated industries such as aerospace or defense.

Our client is a leading manufacturer specializing in high‑complexity, mission‑critical thermal management and precision metal components for aerospace, defense, and advanced technology markets. With multiple facilities across the U.S., they support some of the most demanding OEMs and Tier‑1 customers in the industry. They are experiencing significant growth and are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to drive excellence, efficiency, and scalability across their production environment.


Description



Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily production operations across machining, welding, assembly, and related processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Develop and maintain short- and long-term production plans to meet customer demand.
  • Monitor KPIs including OTD, scrap, rework, throughput, and labor utilization.


People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop production supervisors, leads, and hourly staff.
  • Support staffing, training, and performance management activities.
  • Promote a positive, accountable, high‑performance culture.


Process & Systems Optimization

  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, value-stream mapping, and standard work improvements.
  • Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks, downtime, and non-value-added activity.
  • Ensure adherence to AS9100 and other regulatory/manufacturing standards.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Quality to address NCRs, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvements.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain on material flow, scheduling, inventory management, and constraints.
  • Support Engineering on new product introductions and manufacturability improvements.
  • Collaborate with Program Management to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded.

Profile



Required

  • 5+ years of operations or production leadership experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, precision machining, metal fabrication, or complex assemblies.
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proven track record managing teams in a fast-paced, high-mix/low-volume environment.
  • Solid understanding of ERP/MRP systems and production planning.


Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • Experience with AS9100 standards and defense/aerospace compliance requirements.
  • Background in machining (CNC), brazing, welding, sheet metal, or thermal management products.
  • Six Sigma certification or formal Lean training.
