Pricing Manager - $12B Food Manufacturer - Chicago

I'm partnering with a rapidly growing, multi-billion-dollar food manufacturer in Downtown Chicago. There are 20 manufacturing sites across NA and 15 innovation labs that are constantly developing new products within the food commodities space. This client's customer base is in well-known stores such as Costco, Walmart, Aldi, etc. and they partner with large CPG companies such as Pepsi, Mars, Kraft, etc. They are now seeking to bring on a Pricing Manager to their growing team.

Reporting directly into the VP of Finance with constant communication with the Senior Leaders, the Pricing Manager will create and execute strategic pricing strategies for all the products underneath one of their business units. This role will also work cross-functionally with various departments such as sales, marketing, and product to align pricing with the overall financial goals of the organization.

Description

Pricing Manager Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of full P&L inputs by coordinating with various departments to establish cost of goods, freight, warehousing, and margin structures.
  • Oversee the entire pricing process, including evaluating and setting pricing for new products, making periodic adjustments, and driving end-to-end execution.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of sales data, margin trends, and customer demand patterns.
  • Manage the profitability analysis for both customers and products.
  • Direct the annual review of production standards in collaboration with plant operations and executive leadership to optimize cost control, ensure absorption of fixed and variable costs, and enhance margin performance by product and customer.
  • Develop and maintain production standards based on absorption costing, encompassing standard cost calculations, product setup, activity rates, work cell creation, and overhead allocation.
  • Monitor and analyze working capital, including perpetual inventory tracking, cycle counts, physical inventory, and reporting of variances to senior management.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and communicate funding needs to the corporate treasury team.
  • Manage monthly financial close activities in SAP, coordinating all manufacturing-related entries and reconciliations.
  • Analyze process order variances, ensure data accuracy, and report on profit and loss and spending at the group level.
  • Lead the budgeting process, including the annual production plan, variance reporting, and data input into financial templates.
  • Partner with executive leadership to support accurate forecasting and budgeting efforts.
  • Provide strategic guidance to offshore finance teams on: ERP month-end close processes (e.g., SAP), Forecast submissions and alignment across business units
  • Variance analysis with accompanying commentary
  • Deliver key reports and analyses, including: Inventory, yield, and cost sheets, MATS reports
  • Tracking of cost control initiatives
  • KPI dashboards for executive management reviews
  • Lead internal review processes, conducting financial and operational performance reviews on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
  • Handle ad hoc financial analyses and additional responsibilities as delegated by leadership.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Product teams to align pricing strategies with market competitiveness and customer needs.
  • Train commercial teams on pricing methodologies and their financial implications.
  • Present pricing models and profitability insights to senior executives and key stakeholders.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or related field
  • 7+years of experience required
  • Manufacturing or CPG industry experience required
  • CPA or CMA nice to have
  • Familiarity with pricing tools
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent teamwork and relationship building
  • Ability to work with a diverse team across various geographies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks accurately and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail, strong sense of urgency, and ownership
