Accounting Specialist
I'm partnered with a global multi-million dollar manufacturing company near Elgin, IL as they are looking to bring on an Accounting Specialist to join their growing team. Reporting directly into the Controller with tons of communication and support to the Global Corporate Accounting team, you will gain mentorship so that you're able to take over the Accounts Payable & potentially the Accounts Receivable work. They are wanting to offer tons of mentorship and training to this individual as you will have an ability to gain lots of exposure.

Reporting directly into the Controller with tons of communication and support to the Global Corporate Accounting team, you will gain mentorship so that you're able to take over the Accounts Payable & potentially the Accounts Receivable work. They are wanting to offer tons of mentorship and training to this individual as you will have an ability to gain lots of exposure.
Description
- Process and verify invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper approval, and compliance with company policies.
- Match invoices with purchase orders and receipts to ensure correct payments.
- Enter and maintain vendor invoices in the accounting system.
- Prepare and process payments via checks, ACH, wire transfers, and credit cards.
- Maintain accurate vendor records and ensure timely payments to avoid late fees and service disruptions.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in the month-end closing process by preparing AP accruals and reconciliations.
- Reconcile AP sub-ledger with the general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare aging reports and assist in cash flow forecasting.
- Ensure all AP transactions comply with company policies, accounting standards, and tax regulations.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining internal controls to prevent fraud and errors.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary AP documentation.
- Identify and recommend process improvements for efficiency and accuracy in AP functions.
- Assist with automation initiatives, such as electronic invoicing and payment processing.
- Generate and analyze AP reports to provide insights to management.
Profile
- Bachelor's or Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of AP accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
