Senior Packaging Engineer

This role supports innovation, cost savings initiatives, and base business continuity projects while collaborating closely with cross functional partners, including R&D, Purchasing, Planning, Manufacturing, and external suppliers.

My client is a privately held consumer healthcare and personal care company

Description

  • Lead end‑to‑end packaging development from concept through commercialization, including material selection, component design, validation, and supplier qualification.
  • Partner closely with Brand, R&D, Marketing, Regulatory, Operations, and external suppliers to deliver packaging that supports brand equity, product integrity, and consumer safety.
  • Serve as technical packaging lead on new product launches, line extensions, and packaging renovations, managing timelines, risks, and deliverables.
  • Evaluate and implement packaging innovations focused on sustainability, cost optimization, manufacturability, and supply resilience.
  • Develop and execute packaging test plans (performance, transit, stability, compatibility), ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and cross‑functional partners.
  • Own packaging specifications, change control, and documentation, ensuring disciplined execution in a confidential, highly regulated environment.
  • Support supplier relationships through technical reviews, audits, and ongoing performance management.

Profile

* Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.

* Clear verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non technical audiences.

* Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills.

* Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.

* Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.

* Ability to build relationships quickly and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
