Medical Device - Manufacturing Engineer - Merrimack, NH

My client is seeking a highly experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in a hands-on role within a small company environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong manufacturing engineering background, with extensive experience using small shop machinery and SolidWorks. This is not an R&D position, but some design work will be required. The role will involve the development, improvement, and implementation of manufacturing processes, as well as collaborating closely with production teams to ensure efficient operations.

My client is a well-established medical device company known for designing, manufacturing, and supplying high-quality surgical devices. They specialize in essential products such as Intraoperative Doppler Systems and Surgical Suction Irrigation Systems (ROSI), supporting a variety of surgical fields including vascular, reconstructive, urology, neurosurgery, and robotic surgery.

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to model new and existing parts using SolidWorks.
  • Create step-by-step visual assembly drawings, documenting the style and methodology used at VTI.
  • Design and create fixturing, and handle prototyping tasks when necessary.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings to ensure accuracy and detail.
  • Write and execute test protocols, and produce written test reports and practical analysis of results.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for new products and ensure smooth product integration into production.
  • Collaborate with production personnel to develop, improve, and implement manufacturing efforts.
  • Write and process change orders, ensuring compliance with MDSAP, FDA, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Communicate engineering concepts effectively to production floor personnel, as well as senior management.
  • Adapt to changes in priorities and handle unexpected tasks as part of the dynamic, fast-paced work environment.

Profile

Ideal Candidate:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in a small company environment.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a comparable level of work experience.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for part modeling and assembly drawing creation.
  • Strong experience with small shop machinery (e.g., bench mill, drill press, jewelers lathe).
  • Experience in fixturing, prototyping, and reading mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to write test protocols, analyze results, and produce test reports.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex engineering concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and a multitasking environment.
