Estimator - Municipal Construction (500K-5M) - Leesburg,VA

We are representing a rapidly growing commercial general contractor seeking an Estimator or Senior Estimator to join their team. This individual will play a key role in preconstruction and have the opportunity to step into a leadership track within the estimating department.

Our client is an emerging, relationship-driven general contractor experiencing significant growth, with projections to reach $30M+ in annual revenue. With a current team of ~30 employees, they maintain a tight-knit, entrepreneurial culture while competing with larger GCs across the region.

The company has built a strong reputation across private-sector commercial construction, including:

• Corporate interiors / tenant fit-outs
• Retail, restaurant, and hospitality projects

With new leadership in place, the company is positioned for rapid expansion and is expected to scale significantly over the next few years.

Description

This position is heavily focused on commercial estimating and subcontractor engagement, with a strong emphasis on relationship building and communication.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates across multiple commercial project types
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop accurate scopes of work
• Manage subcontractor outreach, bid leveling, and proposal analysis
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors
• Handle multiple bids and budgets simultaneously (typically $200K-$5M range)
• Coordinate with internal teams on pricing strategy and project pursuit
• Support preconstruction efforts and client-facing activities as needed

Profile

• 3+ years of experience with a commercial general contractor

• 7+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating

• Experience across multiple CSI divisions strongly preferred
• Background in commercial interiors (office, retail, restaurant, healthcare, etc.) required
• Experience with ground-up, site work, or utilities is a plus
• Proven ability to perform takeoffs and write scopes independently
• Strong subcontractor network and relationship-building skills
• Comfortable with high-volume phone communication (this is critical)
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
