Controller - Property Managment Firm - West Town Chicago
This position will offer broad, hands-on exposure across the business-managing accounting operations and month-end close, overseeing cash flow, and driving budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning. It's a rare opportunity for someone to step into a high-impact role with a direct trajectory to CFO, gaining insight into every area of the organization.
Client Details
My client is a privately owned property management firm located in the Chicago area, with a steadily expanding portfolio of both residential and commercial properties. In response to their continued growth and evolving internal structure, they are introducing a new Junior CFO role designed to work alongside the current CFO, with a defined path toward eventual succession.
Description
- Managing all accounts and leading the month-end close process
- Overseeing cash management - Planning, budgeting, and forecasting
- Performing budget-to-actual analysis - Handling e-financing and managing company debt
- Managing insurance policies
- Collaborating closely with operations and comfortable being pulled in multiple directions
- Supporting refinancing efforts
- Working directly with the COO on operational matters
- Exploring alternative investments
Profile
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; CPA or MBA is a strong plus
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, exposure to the real estate sector is a strong plus
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and internal control frameworks
- Demonstrated success in driving financial performance and improving outcomes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal presence
