The Quality Engineer, aerospace manufacturing, will support Six Sigma initiatives, conduct audits, inspections, and data analysis to ensure product and process compliance with customer and industry standards. Description

The Quality Engineer, Aerospace Castings will:

  • Support Six Sigma initiatives, corrective actions, and continuous improvement projects alongside engineers and management.
  • Conduct final product inspections, dock audits, and internal/external audits to ensure compliance with customer quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Inspection teams to reduce scrap and rework through effective problem-solving.
  • Review purchase orders, drawings, and engineering changes to define and uphold product quality standards.
  • Establish and improve manufacturing techniques, equipment specifications, and incoming inspection requirements.
  • Perform APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC activities, and customer interface as needed.
  • Conduct Measurement System Analysis, capability studies, and Design of Experiments (Minitab preferred).
  • Develop and oversee internal manufacturing and supplier inspections to ensure high performance.
  • Handle first article inspections, MRB approvals, and PPAP documentation to meet customer requirements.
  • Lead internal audits per ISO 9001, AS9100, and ISO/TS16949 standards, including system, process, and layered audits.
  • Investigate nonconforming material, initiate corrective actions (8D preferred), and recommend product/process improvements.
  • Perform industrial engineering tasks, including process evaluations, method analysis, and tooling/test equipment planning.


Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience (2-5 years).
  • Strong understanding of quality engineering concepts, tools, and methodologies.
  • Experience with audits, inspections, and compliance with industry standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO/TS16949).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, statistical tools, and technical computer modeling (Minitab preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation (8D preferred).
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and SPC.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Experience working with suppliers, manufacturing, and engineering teams to drive quality improvements.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, conduct capability studies, and perform Measurement System Analysis.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills.
