Client Details

We are currently partnered up with a Medium Sized Manufacturing company in their search for an Environmental Manager to lead the environmental compliance and sustainability efforts at their chemical manufacturing facility specializing in the production and processing of materials involving nickel, chrome, and gold. This candidate will report into the Plant Manager and will be a large part of the leadership team. Description

The Environmental Manager - Chemical Manufacturing will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including EPA, OSHA, and any industry-specific requirements.
  • Oversee permitting processes related to air emissions, water discharge, and hazardous waste management.
  • Conduct routine environmental audits and inspections to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports for environmental monitoring, including waste disposal, air quality, and water treatment.
  • Develop and implement sustainability programs focused on reducing waste, conserving energy, and minimizing the facility's carbon footprint.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements that reduce environmental impact.
  • Oversee proper storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials, including nickel, chrome, and gold compounds.
  • Ensure compliance with Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) standards.
  • Train staff on safe handling procedures for hazardous materials.
  • Manage a team of environmental specialists and technicians.
  • Conduct training programs on environmental policies, procedures, and best practices for employees at all levels.
  • Foster a culture of environmental stewardship across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans for environmental incidents.
  • Act as the primary contact for environmental regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
  • Investigate and report environmental incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Profile

The ideal Environmental Manager - Chemical Manufacturing will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental management within a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
  • Experience with nickel, chrome, or gold processing is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, including RCRA, TSCA, Clean Air Act, and Clean Water Act.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in using environmental management systems (EMS) and reporting tools.
  • Certifications such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), or equivalent are preferred.

Job Offer

The successful Environmental Manager - Chemical Manufacturing will be rewarded with the following:

  • Base Salary of $90,000-$110,000 depending on experience
