Leave of Absence Specialist
- Responsible for managing and administering employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, parental, and personal leaves, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies.
- Serve as a key point of contact for employees and managers, providing guidance, tracking leave status, and coordinating with HR, payroll, and benefits teams.

Our client is a multinational investment management firm specializing in institutional asset management, risk analytics, and alternative investments.
Description
Manage all types of employee leaves (FMLA, ADA, parental, medical, personal, military, etc.) in compliance with federal, state, and company policies.
Serve as the main point of contact for employees on leave, guiding them through the process, ensuring accurate documentation, and tracking leave status from start to return.
Ensure all leave-related activities comply with applicable laws and regulations, including HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, and state-specific leave laws.
Collaborate with HR, payroll, benefits, and legal teams to ensure accurate processing of leave and related pay/benefit changes.
Maintain detailed and confidential records of leave cases and generate reports for internal tracking, audits, and compliance reviews.
Clearly communicate eligibility, rights, responsibilities, and timelines to employees, providing exceptional support and follow-up throughout their leave.
Educate managers and employees on leave policies, and assist in interpreting how leave policies apply in specific situations.
Coordinate return-to-work procedures, including accommodation discussions, fit-for-duty requirements, and modified duty arrangements when needed.
Profile
In-depth understanding of FMLA, ADA, state-specific leave laws, and other relevant employment regulations to ensure compliance in all leave processes.
Ability to clearly communicate policies, answer employee inquiries, and work collaboratively with managers, HR, and other departments.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple leave cases simultaneously while maintaining accurate records and meeting deadlines.
Demonstrates compassion and professionalism when dealing with employees on leave, ensuring they feel supported throughout their time away from work.
Capable of evaluating complex leave situations, offering solutions, and making sound decisions that balance the needs of the employee with company policies.
Demonstrates a high level of confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive employee information.
Comfortable using HRIS systems, leave management software, and Microsoft Office Suite to track, process, and report on leave data.
Previous experience in human resources, benefits administration, or a related field is highly preferred.
Able to adjust to changing policies, work environments, and regulations, while proactively addressing potential issues before they arise.
