Description

The Director of Construction or Precon Manager will be responsible for:

  • Lead all preconstruction efforts from concept through GMP and handoff to operations
  • Manage and mentor a team of estimators and preconstruction professionals
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, and internal teams to develop accurate budgets and schedules
  • Oversee bid strategies, subcontractor outreach, and proposal development
  • Ensure alignment between design intent, budget, and constructability
  • Support business development efforts with technical expertise and client presentations
  • Drive continuous improvement in preconstruction processes and tools
  • Report directly to executive leadership and contribute to strategic planning

Profile

The successful Director of Construction will have the following:

  • 10+ years of experience in preconstruction or estimating, with at least 3 in a leadership role
  • Strong background in commercial construction, especially K-12 or mixed-use projects
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple complex pursuits
  • Deep understanding of cost modeling, value engineering, and design-build delivery
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Proficiency with modern estimating software and digital takeoff tools
