Process Automation Engineer - Webster, MA

As a Process Automation Engineer you'll enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality by designing and developing advanced machinery, optimizing process workflows, and implementing innovative automation solutions. This role leverages cutting-edge technology, custom fixtures, and advanced materials engineering to drive continuous improvement and streamline production processes.

Description

The position will report directly into the Engineering Manager and be responsible for

  • Designing and overseeing production machinery and fixturing, including safety guarding.
  • Specifying, recommending, and procuring start-up production equipment.
  • Implementing automation in existing processes using robotics or dedicated systems.
  • Understanding mechanical, electrical, and metallurgy systems, including dimensional controls, heat treating, and inspection methods.
  • Providing metallurgy expertise, process knowledge, and failure analysis to support the Heat Treat Department.
  • Supporting in-house and custom injection plastic molding processes.
  • Identifying and resolving process issues using SPC techniques and strong analytic skills.
  • Creating drafts as needed in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and MasterCAM.
  • Coordinating with Production Control, Quality Control, and Purchasing.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Profile

The successful candidate will have:

  • Engineering degree
  • 3+ years of process engineering experience
  • Heat treatment and metal knowledge preferred
  • Injection molding knowledge a plus
  • Some familiarity with PLC, automation, robotics, etc.
  • CNC machinery knowledge - mills & lathes
  • Proven track record of process optimization and cost savings in an industrial manufacturing environment
