CNC Program Engineer - Precision Manufacturing - Milford, MA

As a CNC Program Engineer, you will play a critical role in translating complex medical designs into efficient and precise CNC programs. You'll work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to develop, optimize, and support manufacturing processes for Swiss-type and multi-axis CNC lathes and mills.

My client is a trusted manufacturer of high-precision components for the medical device industry. They specialize in producing intricate, tight-tolerance parts used in surgical instruments, orthopedic implants, and other life-saving medical applications.

Description

The CNC Program Engineer will report directly into the Operations Manager and be responsible for:

  • Develop and optimize CNC programs for Swiss and multi-axis CNC machines.
  • Create setup sheets, tool lists, and machining instructions for operators.
  • Collaborate with design and process engineering to ensure manufacturability of new products.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, tool life, and quality.
  • Provide hands-on support for machine setup and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in the selection of tooling and fixturing.
  • Participate in first article inspections and process validations.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with ISO and FDA regulations.

Profile

  • Associate's or Technical degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience programming CNC lathes and/or mills, preferably in medical or high-precision manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in CAM software.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and tight tolerance machining.
  • Experience with Swiss-style CNC machines is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work from solid models and engineering drawings.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
