Director of Field Ops - Multifamily Projects in MA and CT
Established mid-sized General Contractor, specializing in adaptive-reuse multifamily projects, looking to make a strategic hire for a Director of Field Operations - this position ensures that projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards by leading field teams, coordinating with project managers, enforcing safety protocols, and driving operational efficiency across multiple construction sites throughout MA & CT.

My client is a reputable, mid-sized General Contractor and Construction Manager with a focus on Multifamily Residential projects, including adaptive reuse, residential rehabilitation, historic renovations, and new construction.

Description
Field Team Leadership:
- Lead and oversee field superintendents, foremen, and construction personnel, fostering a productive and collaborative environment.
- Assign tasks, delegate responsibilities, and provide necessary training to ensure team success.
- Conduct performance evaluations and address any concerns related to staff performance.
Project Management Oversight:
- Track project progress across all active construction sites, ensuring alignment with schedules and budgets.
- Proactively identify potential issues and resolve them to prevent delays and cost overruns.
- Collaborate closely with project managers to guarantee smooth execution of project plans.
Safety Compliance:
- Establish and enforce stringent safety protocols across all job sites.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and quickly address any identified hazards.
- Cultivate a strong safety culture and ensure field personnel adhere to safety best practices.
Quality Control:
- Ensure all construction work meets project specifications and quality standards.
- Perform regular quality checks throughout the construction phases to maintain high standards.
- Address any quality issues swiftly and efficiently to maintain project integrity.
Resource Management:
- Coordinate the efficient allocation of equipment, materials, and labor to maximize project efficiency.
- Manage relationships with subcontractors, ensuring timely and quality delivery of work packages.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain consistent and clear communication with project managers, clients, architects, engineers, and other key stakeholders.
- Lead regular job site meetings to discuss progress, resolve concerns, and ensure alignment among all parties.
Operational Improvement:
- Analyze field operations data to pinpoint areas for improvement and optimize workflows.
- Implement new processes and strategies to drive productivity and cost savings across all sites.
Profile
Required Skills and Experience:
- At least 5+ years of previous experience as a Director of Field Operations or General Superintendent.
- Valid MA CSL & OSHA 30 Certification.
- Proficient in construction project management software and tools.
- Significant experience in construction field operations, especially managing large projects.
- Strong leadership abilities with a track record of motivating and leading diverse teams.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, safety standards, and quality control practices - RRP/Lead-Safe practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with all stakeholders.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Possess a sense of urgency and initiative.
- Must be flexible and willing to adapt to the changing field conditions, personnel and ownership request.
Job Offer
- Competitive base salary -up to $255K dependent on experience level.
- Company vehicle.
