Sr Manufacturing Engineer | Metal Fabrication | Chicago, IL
The Manufacturing Engineer will be involved in project based work for our client, focused on their sheet metal fabrication department. This person will be responsible for leading Engineering projects as jobs are requested from customers. If you have an in-depth knowledge of the sheet metal fabrication process, this is for you!

My client is a stable, family-owned manufacturer located near O'Hare. They have impressive and varying capabilities in metal stamping and metal fabrication for customers in a variety of industries. They pride themselves on a close-knit culture and transparency in leadership, and are looking for more talented, motivated individuals to join their team as they continue to grow.
Description
- Serve as point person for new Engineering projects
- Review part requests/Engineering drawings, and Engineer the part from there
- Select machinery & develop manufacturing process for optimal production
- Design custom tooling/fixtures to support production for the sheet metal fabrication process
- Delegate project tasks/responsibilities to other team members
- Drive continuous improvement to existing operations, with focus on scrap reduction & overall cost savings
- Assist in generating programs for automated metal fabrication machinery
Profile
- 5+ years experience in a metal fabrication environment
- Ability to take an engineering drawing and convert into final product with little to no guidance
- Previous exposure to working closely on projects, including interfacing with customers and estimating project costs
- Experience programming machinery - press brakes, lasers, turrets, wire benders etc. - strongly preferred
- Experience leading process improvement initiatives
Job Offer
- Base salary $80,000 - $110,000 depending on level of experience
- Discretionary bonus based on company performance
