Process Engineer - Plastics Manufacturing - Attleboro, MA

My client is an innovative packaging manufacturer with high profile clients and state of the art technology. They are invested in thermoforming technology that challenges industry standards and sustainability efforts.

Description

In this role you will report directly into the Engineering Manager and be responsible for:

  • Maintaining a safety-first approach to manufacturing and engineering, ensuring safety remains the top priority.
  • Serving as a process safety resource on a cross-functional operations team, leading process risk assessments and developing strategies to mitigate identified risks.
  • Maintaining safety, product quality/yield, and manufacturing effectiveness by troubleshooting and resolving process challenges daily while collaborating in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Collecting production data and applying standard scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and map production processes.
  • Optimizing manufacturing processes to achieve sustainable improvements in cost-effectiveness and product performance through capital projects, statistical analysis, designed experiments, and procedural adjustments.
  • Collaborating across functions and with customers to resolve technical and quality issues while delivering required packaging solutions.
  • Starting up new products and equipment, supervising installation, troubleshooting initial production, ensuring processes and products meet requirements, documenting outcomes, and transferring them to production.
  • Leading the management of change process to document and standardize process changes.
  • Providing technical leadership, guidance, and supervision to engineers, process technicians, and other technical resources as assigned.
  • Acting as a senior technical leader to establish and document clear objectives, SOPs, job descriptions, and aligned priorities for the technical team.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of various capital projects.
  • Providing off-hours support for abnormal and non-routine operations as needed, including major engineering initiatives during plant startups, shutdowns, or unexpected events.
  • Ensuring compliance with SQF/ISO requirements.




Profile

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
  • 3-5+ years of working with plastic materials
  • Extrusion experience required
  • 24/7 operations experience a plus
  • Hands-on mentality
  • Troubleshooting familiarity
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
