The Heat Treat Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of heat treat operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and production excellence. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to drive efficiency while supporting a high-performing team.

They focus on delivering high-quality, complex metal components for a wide range of industries, emphasizing innovation and excellence in their production processes. They are a close knit group with lots of amenities onsite for their employees.

Description

This role will report directly into the Director of Engineering and be responsible for

  • Leading and managing all heat treat operations, including scheduling, equipment maintenance, safety compliance, and team performance
  • Supervising and developing a team of employees while fostering accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
  • Ensuring heat treatment processes are meeting internal and customer quality standards, including metallurgy specifications and hardness requirements
  • Collaborating with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to support on-time delivery of quality products
  • Overseeing preventative maintenance programs and coordinating with maintenance staff to minimize downtime
  • Monitoring KPIs and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce scrap, and optimize labor and material usage
  • Training, coaching, and evaluating team members to support employee development and succession planning
  • Managing Nadcap heat treat audits and ensuring compliance with all standards
  • Maintaining strict adherence to safety, environmental, and operational protocols
  • Being present frequently on the production floor to support operations

Profile

The successful candidate will have

  • 5+ years of experience in heat treat operations within a manufacturing environment, ideally with small parts production
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing production teams and driving results
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field
  • Hands-on metallurgical experience, including working with hardness and metallurgy specifications
  • Strong knowledge of heat treat equipment such as furnaces, quench systems, and related processes
  • Background in aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing
  • Experience commissioning new equipment, defining processes, and establishing a road map for future operations
  • Ability to support customer specifications and address technical inquiries directly
  • Track record of growing and scaling teams within new or consolidating operations
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, and Nadcap standards, with experience supporting audits
  • Comfortable balancing administrative and mechanical responsibilities while maintaining a strong floor presence
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
