Construction Superintendent

The DOB Superintendent will serve as the on-site leader responsible for managing field operations, enforcing safety and compliance, and ensuring that construction progresses on schedule and within budget. This role requires strong technical expertise, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage complex, high-value projects in accordance with NYC DOB regulations.

Description

• Oversee all day‑to‑day field operations for a major ground‑up construction project.
• Manage subcontractors, labor crews, and site logistics to maintain productivity and efficiency.
• Coordinate closely with project management, engineering teams, and ownership.

• Enforce jobsite safety standards per OSHA, NYC DOB, and company policies.
• Conduct daily walkthroughs and weekly toolbox talks; maintain all safety documentation.
• Ensure the site adheres to all DOB codes, permit requirements, inspections, and regulatory filings.

• Monitor and manage the construction timeline, sequencing, and milestone completion.
• Troubleshoot onsite issues and provide real‑time solutions to maintain schedule and quality.
• Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, and change orders for accuracy and constructability.

• Maintain daily logs, site reports, and incident documentation.
• Coordinate DOB inspections and ensure all required sign‑offs.
• Provide weekly updates to senior leadership regarding progress, challenges, and resource needs.

• Ensure workmanship meets or exceeds company standards.
• Verify installation methods follow architectural and engineering plans.
• Conduct regular quality control inspections.

Profile

• Active NYC Licensed Construction Superintendent (DOB license required).
• 10+ years of field experience, with at least 5 years managing ground‑up projects over $30M.
• Expertise in NYC building codes, DOB procedures, and high‑rise/large‑scale construction operations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex subcontractor coordination and logistics.
• Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, CMiC, PlanGrid, etc.).
• OSHA 30 required; SST Supervisor Card preferred.
