Project Engineer

As a Project Engineer, you'll play a central role in the planning, design, and execution of heavy highway projects in the Stamford, CT area. You'll collaborate with senior engineers, contractors, and DOT officials to ensure technical excellence and timely delivery. This role combines hands-on field oversight with design coordination and project management responsibilities.

Client Details

Our client, a well-established and respected Civil Engineering firm based in Stamford, CT, is seeking a Licensed Project Engineer with a background in Heavy Highway construction to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on impactful infrastructure projects across Connecticut, with a focus on roadways, bridges, drainage systems, and related civil works.

Description

As Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Assist in the planning, design, and execution of heavy highway projects from concept through construction.

  • Perform engineering calculations, prepare technical reports, and ensure design compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Oversee and coordinate construction activities with contractors, DOT officials, and other stakeholders.

  • Review project specifications, drawings, submittals, and shop drawings.

  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and quality control throughout the lifecycle.

  • Ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards on-site.

  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Connecticut is required.

  • 5+ years of experience in heavy highway engineering and construction.

  • Strong understanding of CTDOT standards and procedures.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MS Office Suite; familiarity with scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project) is a plus.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
