My client is seeking Benefits Subject Matter Expert Consultant for a remote or hybrid reporting to the Head of Payroll and Benefits.

Benefits SME Consultant Summary:

This role is focused on managing and stabilizing various benefits processes, including HSA, FSA, 401K, Cigna, and other employee benefit systems. Responsibilities include conducting regular audits, creating and updating employee materials for self-service, and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to streamline administrative tasks.

Key objectives include:

  • Managing file feeds and deductions for benefits programs.
  • Creating and maintaining audit reports for accuracy and changes.
  • Training a third-party administrator (Genpact) to take over benefits administration tasks.
  • Handling benefits enrollments for new hires, qualified life events, and conversion employees.
  • Managing leave of absence (LOA) processes and supporting employee inquiries via Zendesk.
  • Proactively identifying and addressing issues to stabilize the benefits function.
  • Post-launch of the UKG PRO module, updating SOPs and retraining staff on the new system.

The role involves a strong focus on process improvement, training, and ensuring the accuracy and smooth operation of benefits administration.

● MUST - US benefits subject matter expert (no training needed)
● Process improvement identification skills / not accepting the status quo but instead looking to find better, more efficient processes
● Auditing skills (systems confidence to autonomously pull reports and leverage these for auditing pursues)
● Strong ability to create process documentation (SOPs) - using Scribe.
● Ability to train others
● Very fast-paced worker
● Proactive and good collaboration
● Enjoy the hustle and cleaning up messy :-)
