Assistant Project Manager - Commercial Construction - D.C

This role is ideal for a professional who has foundational skills in document control, submittals, RFIs, and estimating, and is ready to advance to more complex responsibilities such as leading portions of OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings, developing price estimates, and drafting change orders.

Description

  • Project Documentation & Communication

    • Handle document control, including submittals and RFIs, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for the project team.
    • Assist in preparing and reviewing change orders, cost estimates, and construction schedules.
    • Take a lead role in portions of OAC meetings, facilitating communication between project stakeholders.
  • Project Financial Tracking

    • Track and report on project finances, including budget adherence, cost forecasting, and expense management.
    • Support Project Managers in managing cash flow and cost-to-complete projections.
  • Quality & Compliance

    • Ensure all work complies with project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
    • Conduct regular site inspections in collaboration with the PM to maintain quality control.
  • Estimating & Procore Management

    • Develop a working knowledge of estimating and preconstruction activities.
    • Proactively use Procore to manage project schedules, documents, and workflow.
  • Client & Team Coordination

    • Collaborate with team members to ensure project milestones are met.
    • Support Project Managers by fostering positive client relationships and engaging with subcontractors to ensure smooth project progression.

Profile

  • Experience & Qualifications
    • At least 2 years of experience as an APM in commercial construction.
    • Proficient in Procore, with a strong understanding of document control, cost tracking, and change order processes.
    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Skills & Attributes
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Self-sufficient, with the ability to take initiative and support project goals independently.
    • Positive attitude, sense of urgency, and proactive approach to identifying and solving project challenges.
    • Strong communication skills, with experience participating in or leading portions of project meetings.

Job Offer

  • Base Salary: $85,000-$100,000
  • Car Allowance: $300/month
  • Cell Phone Allowance: $125/month
  • Bonus: Performance-based bonus
