Litigation Legal Secretary
The Litigation Legal Secretary will provide high-level support to a team of four litigation attorneys (1 partner and 3 associates). The role offers the rare opportunity to learn from and transition with the current secretary, who is retiring after significant tenure in the role and will assist during onboarding and a key litigation matter.
Client Details
This role is with a prominent law firm in Stamford. CT This position requires deep experience in Connecticut litigation and court filings, particularly in State, Federal, and Bankruptcy courts. The work is deadline-driven and often time-sensitive, making strong organization, dependability, and composure under pressure essential traits.
Description
Provide comprehensive administrative and litigation support to a four-attorney team
Draft, revise, and finalize legal documents and court filings
Electronically file pleadings and motions in Connecticut State, Federal, and Bankruptcy courts
Maintain attorney calendars and coordinate meetings, hearings, and deadlines
Manage outgoing correspondence (FedEx, UPS, USPS)
Organize and maintain both physical and electronic legal files
Perform time entry for attorneys and coordinate with billing for invoice preparation
Notarize or witness documents as needed
Work overtime when required, particularly near filing deadlines
Profile
10+ years of experience as a legal secretary, with at least 5 years supporting litigation attorneys
Strong working knowledge of Connecticut court systems and e-filing procedures
Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure
Comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a busy litigation practice
Able to work independently while maintaining a proactive and collaborative attitude
Familiarity with paralegal duties is a plus (hybrid skillset welcome)
Must be onsite daily, Monday-Friday, with availability until at least 5:00 PM
Training Available but experience with the following is a plus
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Legal document and timekeeping software (e.g., iManage, Aderant, GEMS, Olympus)
Online research tools (Westlaw, LexisNexis)
Expense systems (ChromeRiver)
Job Offer
Salary: $70,000-$90,000
Schedule: 35-hour work week (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
Overtime: Non-exempt and eligible for paid OT (often needed)
Time Off: 25 PTO days per year
