Superintendent
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and proactive Construction Superintendent to oversee daily operations on our construction sites. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of construction processes, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety standards and quality expectations.

My Client is a family-owned and operated business, consisting of four major divisions: Asphalt and Recycling Materials, Construction Materials, Contracting (heavy highway construction) and Real Estate, all located in New Jersey. What started as a company offering basement excavation and driveway paving now has 3 quarries in NJ, 2 quarries in PA, 9 asphalt plants, 3 recycling centers, and several gravel mining operations.
Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Measure and calculate the total asphalt tonnage needed for the shift, ordering asphalt for the shift, as well as keeping accurate daily records including materials, production, and timesheets.
- Work with foreman to ensure proper coding is being utilized on daily cost/time cards.
- Ensure that utility mark-outs are completed and updated as required.
- Proficient in scheduling material deliveries.
- Perform routine safety and quality control checks on the project and enforce compliance, when required.
- Proficient in scheduling project work flow with in-house construction crews and subcontractors
- Perform field measurements and track quantities for job costing.
- Proficient in reading construction plans, blue prints, specifications, plans and other contractual documents to calculate job site materials and trucking to maintain budget and job efficiency and applying them towards the successful construction of a project.
- Demonstrate excellent safety awareness, ability to communicate clearly with crew members and others as required to perform job duties.
- Must be able to work independently without direct supervision, provide leadership and guidance, conform and maintain all required all DOT, OSHA and other State and Federal laws.
- Maintain a positive working relationship between co-workers and employees of subcontractors, vendors, inspectors and agency individuals working on a job site.
- Work in a productive and efficient manner while maintaining the highest level of quality work.
Profile
REQUIREMENTS
- 3 - 5 years' experience with a milling/asphalt paving crew, primarily in a supervisory role
- Possess a valid drivers' license
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively verbally and written with government agencies, subcontractors, customers, suppliers, co-workers, owners.
- Be proficient in basic computer software applications.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to multitask and work on multiple projects at the same time.
- Effective leadership skills.
Job Offer
COMPENSATION
- $130K - $180k depending upon their mill/paving experience.
- Company Vehicle, Laptop/Tablet.
