Machine Manufacturing - Engineering Manager - Hebron, CT

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a cross-functional team of engineers and toolmakers in developing process documentation and tools for manufacturing parts based on customer specifications. You will oversee the New Part Introduction (NPI) process, ensure on-time delivery and quality, and provide technical guidance while driving continuous improvement, accountability, and alignment with company goals.

As a privately owned supplier, they provide high-quality, complex hardware across the U.S. and internationally. Their team of engineers, technicians, welders, fabricators, and assemblers is skilled in all aspects of fabrication and machining, dedicated to meeting the most rigorous customer requirements.

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a cross-functional team of engineers and toolmakers to develop process documentation and tools for manufacturing parts based on customer-supplied technical data and drawings.
  • Manage the New Part Introduction (NPI) process, overseeing the transition of new work from purchase order to successful first article completion, ensuring on-time delivery and zero defects.
  • Define the engineering/technical structure, determining the required skills and composition of the team to meet organizational needs.
  • Set performance metrics, establish clear objectives, foster accountability, and mentor team members to maximize their potential.
  • Champion company initiatives within the Engineering organization, driving progress and alignment with overall goals.
  • Adopt a hands-on, collaborative approach to problem-solving, working directly with engineering teams and shop floor personnel.
  • Encourage diverse perspectives and experiences to improve processes, reduce costs, and optimize equipment utilization.
  • Engage with customers and potential clients to assess their needs and identify creative, cost-effective manufacturing solutions.
  • Provide ongoing technical support and guidance to shop personnel to ensure efficient operations.
  • Continuously monitor and enhance processes for existing parts and programs to drive improvement.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of engineering personnel to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, company policies, and industry standards across all projects.

Profile

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on manufacturing process experience in a machine shop environment.
  • Aerospace industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with PFMEAs (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and Control Plans is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of blueprints, technical specifications, and ISO quality systems.
  • Proficient in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proficient in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Successfully perform each essential duty, demonstrating the ability to meet job requirements with high satisfaction.
  • Exhibit strong training skills and the ability to support internal customer needs effectively.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to quality, safety, and communication in all aspects of the role.
  • Collaborate as a team player, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Possess excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to meet job demands and responsibilities.
