Inventory Accountant - Manufacturing - Matteson, IL
I'm partnered with the CFO at an industry leading, global manufacturer, and the fastest growing company in their space! As the Inventory Accountant, you will be responsible with assisting in various accounting functions including month-end, cost accounting, inventory analysis, and more.
Client Details
I'm partnered with the CFO at an industry leading, global manufacturer, and the fastest growing company in their space! This client helps create various products in the automotive, aerospace, consumer goods, and machining industries and are experiencing massive growth. With this growth, they are now looking to bring on an Inventory Accountant to join their team.
Reporting into the CFO, you will be responsible with assisting in various accounting functions including month-end, cost accounting, inventory analysis, and more!
Description
- Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts in the general ledger.
- Perform regular inventory reconciliations between physical counts and system records.
- Ensure accuracy in inventory valuation and costing, including standard and actual cost variances.
- Oversee product costing and analyze manufacturing costs.
- Monitor and report on inventory adjustments, shrinkage, and obsolescence.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on inventory fluctuations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes related to inventory.
- Prepare journal entries and adjustments for inventory-related transactions.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) during financial close.
- Implement and maintain internal controls for inventory management.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and audit requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Prepare detailed inventory reports, including inventory turnover ratios and valuation summaries.
- Provide management with insights into inventory performance and cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist in developing inventory-related financial models and forecasts.
- Work closely with the operations, procurement, and warehouse teams to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Identify and implement process improvements for better inventory management.
- Assist in system upgrades and enhancements related to inventory modules.
Profile
- 2-4 years of experience in cost accounting or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and best practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Office (Excel).
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
