U.S. Tax Director - Banking - New York City

$175,000 - $235,000/Year

The U.S. Tax Director will oversee and manage all tax compliance and provision for the Americas. The Tax Director will report into the U.S. Head of Tax, and support all management with modeling and forecasting in the New York City office.

Our client is an overseas banking and financial services institution that provides corporate, commercial, and retail banking services. A bulk of its profits come from operations in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Its operations trace back to the 19th century with involvement in international trade and finance.

Description

The key responsibilities of the U.S. Tax Director include the following:

  • Responsible for managing U.S. tax compliance and reporting for the U.S. branch and subsidiaries, including federal, state, and indirect taxes
  • Oversee the preparation and review of tax returns, supporting workpapers, and allocations
  • Coordinate with external advisors on compliance matters and ensure accurate, timely tax reporting in line with internal policies.
  • Support tax provision calculations and deferred tax asset schedules, and assist in managing the effective tax rate
  • Handle tax audits and inquiries, and contribute to tax planning initiatives. Collaborate with global tax teams and cross-functional departments to ensure consistent and efficient tax practices.

Profile

The ideal U.S. Tax Director will possess the following qualities:

  • Minimum of 10 years of tax experience, ideally experience within foreign banking
  • Comprehensive knowledge of 1120F tax forms and ECI
  • CPA preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of international tax (preferably inbound)
