Healthcare Superintendent

A leading South Florida-based general contractor is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to manage field operations for healthcare construction projects in the Miami area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing medical facilities-hospitals, clinics, surgical centers, or MOBs-and a deep understanding of the complexities, compliance standards, and safety protocols unique to the healthcare sector.

Description

• Lead and supervise all on-site construction activities from groundbreaking through closeout.

• Enforce adherence to project plans, specifications, and healthcare regulations, including AHCA compliance where required.

• Coordinate daily with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors to ensure smooth workflow and timely decision-making.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site in full compliance with OSHA, infection control (ICRA), and local healthcare facility protocols.

• Schedule and manage all site inspections, including pre-construction risk assessments and interim life safety measures (ILSM).

• Identify and proactively resolve field issues or delays to maintain progress and quality.

• Document daily site activity and maintain accurate project logs, RFIs, and field reports.

• Ensure proper installation of medical-grade systems such as MEP infrastructure, oxygen/vacuum piping, and specialized finishes.

• Support client and facility communications to minimize operational disruption during renovation or expansion work.

Profile

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 3 years focused on healthcare facilities.

• Proven experience with AHCA-regulated projects and understanding of healthcare codes and standards.

• Strong working knowledge of construction sequencing, safety protocols, and infection control measures.

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and technical specifications.

• Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project).

• OSHA 30 certification required; ICRA certification highly preferred.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience:

• Ground-up hospital or surgical center builds

• Medical office buildings (MOBs) and imaging centers

• Phased renovation of occupied healthcare facilities

• Coordination of highly technical medical equipment installations
