Estimator- Commercial Construction
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team in Portland, Oregon. The Estimator will play a critical role in accurately preparing cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for a variety of commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry trends, with a focus on delivering competitive and precise project bids.

Description

Project Analysis and Cost Estimation
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Perform material take-offs and calculate labor, material, and equipment costs.
- Identify and mitigate potential project risks through detailed analysis.

Bid Preparation
- Develop and submit competitive project bids and proposals to clients.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and clients to clarify scope and address questions.
- Ensure all estimates adhere to client requirements and project timelines.

Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
- Ensure subcontractor bids align with project scope and specifications.

Market Research and Cost Tracking
- Stay updated on local market conditions, material pricing, and labor rates in the Portland area.
- Maintain and update a database of costs for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Monitor and report on industry trends and construction standards.

Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the project management team to ensure seamless handoffs and accurate cost controls.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings and provide input for cost-effective project solutions.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders to address changes and updates to project scopes or budgets.
Profile

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator (CPE)) are a plus.

Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating.
- Proven track record of successful project estimations and bid submissions in the Portland, Oregon market.
- Experience with estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Skills:
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with Portland's local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
