Senior Mechanical Engineer, Precision Molding - Orlando, FL
This Senior Mechanical Engineer position focuses on designing and developing complex molds for precision manufacturing. The role offers the opportunity to master highly specialized mold design principles, support new product introduction, and expand molding capabilities for larger‑format lenses. Working in a fast‑paced, engineering‑driven environment, this individual will lead technical development efforts, analyze mold performance, solve complex manufacturing challenges, and mentor engineers across the organization.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Partner with senior technical leadership to master advanced mold design methods for optical manufacturing
- Apply proprietary mold design methodologies linking material selection, lens curvature, and manufacturing parameters
- Lead the design and development of complex molds for precision glass lens production
- Drive initiatives enabling production of larger‑diameter molded lenses, including feasibility studies and validation
- Generate detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation
- Analyze mold performance data and implement design improvements
- Provide technical leadership in resolving complex molding issues
- Mentor engineers to build internal capability in mold‑design disciplines
- Support new product introduction through innovative mold design aligned with optical requirements
Profile
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 7+ years of mechanical design experience, ideally within precision manufacturing, tooling, or mold design
- Demonstrated success leading technical development projects
- Strong analytical, CAD, and problem‑solving skills (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
- Deep understanding of materials science, thermal management, tolerance analysis, and GD&T
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
