Electrical Design Engineer - New London, CT

The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and certifying advanced aerospace electronic and lighting systems. This role requires deep expertise in circuit design, system integration, and compliance with rigorous aerospace environmental and certification standards.

Description

In this role you will report into the Director of Engineering and be responsible for:

  • Leading the design and development of analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuits for aerospace applications
  • Developing system and hardware architectures that meet performance, reliability, and certification requirements
  • Ensuring compliance with DO‑160, DO‑178, and other aerospace environmental and software/hardware standards
  • Supporting FAA certification efforts under FAR Part 23, 25, 27, and 29
  • Performing electrical analysis, simulation, validation testing, and documentation
  • Preparing design specifications, test plans, reports, and compliance artifacts
  • Collaborating with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration
  • Providing technical mentorship to junior engineers
  • Supporting troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions for design or field issues
  • Interfacing with DERs, FAA representatives, and certification authorities during reviews and demonstrations

Profile

A successful candidate will have:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in electrical design within aerospace or a similarly regulated industry
  • Experience supporting compliance with aerospace standards such as DO‑160, DO‑178, or related requirements
  • Exposure to FAA certification activities for aircraft components or systems
  • Hands‑on experience using schematic capture, PCB layout, or circuit design tools
  • Understanding of EMI/EMC principles and basic testing practices
  • Experience collaborating with cross‑functional engineering teams
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to document and communicate technical information clearly
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
